The ECO fieldbus coupler is designed for applications with a small data width in the process image. These are primarily applications with digital process data or applications in which only a small amount of analog process data is used.
The system supply takes place directly at the coupler. The field supply is connected via a separate feed module.
In the initialization phase, the PROFIBUS bus coupler determines the physical structure of the node and uses this to create the process image of all inputs and outputs. I/O modules with a bit width of less than 8 can be combined into one byte each to optimize the address space.
It is also possible to deactivate configured I/O modules. This allows the physical structure of the node to be individually designed with regard to its peripheral signals without having to intervene in an existing control application.
